3rd International ISEKI-Food PhD Workshop:

Industry meets Academia - Advances in food processing, food security, and bioeconomy through research

Wednesday, 3 July 2018, 8:30-12:30

The workshop is organized by the  ISEKI-Food Association (IFA) as pre-conference workshop to the 5th International ISEKI_Food Conference, with the aim to bring together PhD students, scientists and industry experts.

The workshop, chaired by research and industry representatives, will focus on presentation and discussion of outstanding research results obtained through PhD studies.

The topics will cover the whole food chain, while special attention will be given to advances in food processing, novel food products, quality and safety, sustainability of the food chain, and circular bioeconomy. The challenges for PhD students and the perspectives of industrial employment will be discussed, as well as the food industry’s expectations from the research achievements.

The workshop will involve a number of invited presentations given by scientists and industry representatives as well as oral and poster presentations given by PhD students. A Round Table for a wide discussion on the topic will conclude the event.

We are expecting to receive contributions from PhD students, presenting their research aims, activities and the main goals they have achieved that may contribute to improve sustainability and innovation of the entire food chain with benefits for the society. All interested PhD students are invited to submit the abstract of their research activity according to the instructions for abstract submission (will open soon).

Rewarding criteria for selection as oral presentation will be the potential exploitation of the research and the real applications in the food chain (at all levels) along with the relevance of the study to the society.

Abstracts will be subjected to peer-reviewing and the accepted ones will be included in the book of abstracts of the 5th ISEKI_Food conference (with ISBN number).

Selected abstracts will be also invited to submit full papers for publication in the Special Issues of the Food Research International and International Journal of Food Studies.
